Funky Austin Fourth

We took a last-minute trip to Austin to celebrate July 4th with E’s sister and brother-in-law, and we had so much fun! I love how quirky and cool Austin is. It’s gorgeous, there are tons of great restaurants and patio bars, and most of all, I love seeing the the stylish UT girls get dressed up. I’ve always been so fascinated with how they can throw on an outfit and tons of accessories and always look awesome! Jealous!

Our first night began at the touristy Hula Hut. We had some cocktails and pupus (that’s appetizers for all you mainlanders), and baked in the hot afternoon sun, all while enjoying the views of Lake Austin.

Then we made our way to the popular Rainey Street. It’s a street full of cute bungalow-style houses turned into bars. We hit up the Lustre Pearl, Blackheart Bar, and Clive before ending up at the BACON truck. Good times.

We enjoyed a delicious Fourth of July brunch at Annie’s, waited 20 minutes, then took a dip in the Deep Eddy Pool.

Deep Eddy is the oldest swimming pool in Texas and has a bathhouse built during the Depression-era. You can read the rest of the history here. Very cool.

It’s only $3 to get in, and it was the perfect way to spend the holiday! How did you celebrate?

xoxo,

Christie
