Blue Bell Country Day

Best part of living somewhere super hot during the summer? An excuse to eat ice cream all the time! We decided to take a day trip to Brenham to tour the Blue Bell Creamery. Why? Because we can. It took a little over an hour to get to there, and we were set up with a tour group within minutes.

We had a young country gentleman as our tour guide, and he knew everything about Blue Bell! We saw lots of different types of ice cream being made, and learned some interesting facts. Did you know it takes 60,000 cows to support one day of Blue Bell ice cream production? And they make 54 1/2 gallons per minute! They also have some great marketing going on because at the end of the factory tour, they show you all the new flavors coming soon. Then the best part…you get to choose a flavor to sample. I had the mocha almond fudge (gluten free)- loved it! E had the Christmas cookies in July- he loved it too!

I haven’t been since I was a kid, and it’s totally different now. Much much bigger. Definitely something to check out again if you’ve already been, or for the first  time if you’ve never seen it. The tour costs $5 and is offered Monday-Friday from 8:30-3. Have fun!
