We found another cool, casual hangout in our neck of the woods! Shepherd Park Draught House is located next to Pink’s Pizza in Garden Oaks (and owned by the same genius), so we’ve passed by a few (wink!) times. It always looked so mysterious to me with the red velvet curtains drawn to block out the windows, and I will say, an interesting crowd outside.
Well, the curtains are drawn not to be mysterious, but to block out the beaming sun. Inside, there’s a fun, laid-back vibe with people just wanting to grab a quick beer and burger after work. Lots of red. Lots of gold. Beautiful light fixtures. And if you get there early enough, you may even snag the king’s thrown.
That’s a partial list of their draught beers, and they also have house wines for $6. I had the Chardonnay, and it was good. Being torn between the mussels and a gourmet burger, I chose the burger. The Smoked Gouda and Bacon Burger with caramelized onion and pears. Soooo juicy and delicious. The guy next to us go the mussels, and I definitely will try those next. They smelled amazing! E ordered The Bandera Burger with cheddar, jalapenos, onion strings, caramelized onions, bacon and cola bbq sauce.
Shepherd Park also has lots of TVs, so you won’t miss any Olympic action! Try it out if you’re in the area. Where’s your favorite burger from?
