Date Night: A Night at the Four Seasons

We’re getting major cabin fever in this tiny apartment. Solution? Stay downtown for the night!

We chose the Four Seasons in downtown Houston because it’s a dog-friendly and gluten-free-friendly hotel. Perfect. And I thought I could talk E into going ice skating with me at the Discovery Green rink (no such luck).

Mia fit in so well! She is such a lady. There’s no weight limit, and you don’t have to keep your dog caged up when you’re gone, like some hotels. And there’s no charge.

Getting settled in.

IMG_2199Checking out the view!

Our room was quite large, and it was nice to be able to stretch out our legs. Mia thought so too.

E hit up the fitness center while I enjoyed the 80 degree December weather.

Then it was time for a night out on the town.

We started out the night in the hotel lounge where they made some bruschetta gluten free for us. {Above} Mushroom. {Below} Texas Hill Country Balsamic Glazed Figs with Mascarpone Cheese.

Then we took the hotel’s complimentary car to dinner at Hearsay.

I cannot say enough good things about Hearsay. The staff is personable, cocktails amazing, fantastic architecture, delicious and extremely affordable food. And gluten free options!

We started with the bacon & chive deviled eggs. OMG. SO good.

E opted for the Hearsay Burger with Parmesan Rosemary Fries. Yummy yummy yummy fries.

And I had the Vegetable Platter. They put some special sauce on the veggies and it’s unlike anything I’ve ever had before. It’s a nice change of pace from the plain ol’ vegetable plate.

And this, my friends, wins best crème brulée of all time. It’s in a deep dish, unlike most, and it is thick and so spectacular. Do not leave without ordering it. We could barely move by the end of the night because we were SO full.

The next morning we crossed the street to Discovery Green. There’s a well-kept dog run where we could let Miss Mia run around. Then we made our way back to Quattro, the hotel restaurant, for breakfast.

I found a Gluten Free Strata filled with artichokes and leeks on the menu. It had so much flavor and was cooked to perfection. E had the Italian Healthy Crostino with scrambled egg whites, mozzarella cheese, sliced tomatoes, grilled ciabatta bread, fresh fruit salad and vanilla acaí berry smoothie.

We finished out our stay by the pool. Great date night!
