Galavanting Around Greystone

Greystone Mansion was built in 1927 by oil tycoon Edward L. Doheny. The City of Beverly Hills later purchased the property and formally dedicated the entire 18.3 acres as a public park in 1971. It is set back in one of the most elegant neighborhoods in America.

I almost enjoyed the drive to Greystone Mansion & Park as much as the actual attraction. The ride along Loma Vista Drive is absolutely stunning. You’ll see gorgeous homes with well-manicured landscaping and five Mercedes parked out front with an employee washing them all. In Houston, they tend to hide all the mansions behind tall brick walls and thick trees, so this was a treat for me!

I was there at the same time as a children’s theatre camp, so there were kids running all over the place! It was nice to see it so maintained and lively after all these years.

My driver from the Beverly Hills Hotel said he actually stops here most mornings and enjoys his coffee in the gardens. How fabulous! It would also be the perfect place for a picnic. Maybe next trip!
