Celebrate

Engagement + Housewarming // Celebration

E and I still hadn’t celebrated our engagement when we moved into our house. Then once the house was cute (enough), we were ready to have a house warming party. Solution: a house warming / engagement celebration. After a little research, I found that since more and more couples are buying their first homes before walking down the aisle, these types of parties are becoming very popular.

DSC_0026However popular, the etiquette police is very against celebrating these two occasions together. I say “lame” to that old rule, but being a lady, I can’t completely throw good etiquette out the window. Solution: invitations that say, “Our Love Has Found a Home, Let’s Celebrate!” That takes care of engagement and new home. Plus, nobody really cares why you’re inviting them over for food + drinks.

I found the invitations at Events in Houston. They had a metallic silver finish, and they were gorgeous! I wasn’t really into any of the invitations made specifically for house warming parties, so I chose the one with the chandelier that looks similar to the one in our living room.

DSC_0024Since it’s so hot here, I wanted the menu to be full of fresh and colorful foods (and we threw in pigs in a blanket just for fun!).

Typically, the mini tarts and cheesecakes are $1.99 each. If you buy 15, it comes out to $15.99. Totally worth it.

DSC_0009The cups were my favorite! I ordered these from Bering’s.

DSC_0004We mixed one big jug of Love Punch (I made up the name) which is 1/3 vodka, 1/3 cranberry and 1/3 orange juice. It was delish!

DSC_0005And for decor, we used candles + small flower arrangements in mason jars. Easy as that.

DSC_0118We had a wonderful evening celebrating with family + friends  and breaking in our new home!

We’re still working hard and have plenty of projects left on our list, but it feels more like home every day. Thanks to everyone that came over to celebrate with us!

  1. I totally agree with the mixed shindigs. Some traditions are simply outdated – everyone loves a get together..whatever the reason(s)! I love the way you combined them – especially the chandelier touch! Bonus for the cups!!

  2. so happy to see all the pictures! the place is coming along so nicely – and i am swooning over those votives in the living room!
