Houstonian Birthday Getaway

Last weekend, E and I enjoyed a night away from home at The Houstonian.

Hotel RoomWe used it as an excuse to kick off my birthday [week] celebration, and I can’t think of a more fun and relaxing way to prepare yourself to turn a year older. I fall more in love with E every day, and if you get us away from our everyday routines of work and keeping up with the house, it’s like I fall in love with him all over again for the first time.

LobsterBirthdayBirthday cake Tres LechesE and I had dinner at The Houstonian’s restaurant, Olivette, and it was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. The hubs had the roasted chicken {bacon lardon, chicken liver, brioche, chicken confit, poached egg, and pear salad}. I had a something our server and I created since they don’t have a specific gluten-free menu. Butter poached lobster on top of the risotto {with champagne, scallions and foraged mushrooms}. Ah-Mazing.

by the fireAfter dinnerSince we were staying on the concierge level, we stopped by for an after-dinner drink {my new favorite}: decaf coffee + Bailey’s. Isn’t that a handsome bartender?

e and cI’m okay with getting older if I continue to have birthdays like this! Thanks to The Houstonian for a lovely getaway.
